From overhead, two dangling cords attach to the blanket (along the lengthwise midline, 18" in from head and foot of the cover).
When the cords are pulled (using a handcrank installed within reach on the wall above the headboard) the blanket turns into a nifty pup tent.
When slightly slackened,
the blanket, laying on top of the bed, can be arranged for comfort, but can't be pulled completely to one side or the other.
Space Blanket
http://en.wikipedia.../wiki/Space_blanket Thin, lightweight, effective; maybe every household should have a dozen or two of 'em. [Vernon, Jan 17 2015]

Not very useful if it gets you sent to sleep on the couch
|

Yes, this could be useful on those cold nights when my wife
accuses me of "pushing all the blankets over to her side." I
wish i was joking. |

|
You can still regulate your own side, just can't deregulate the other. |

The Equilt. For maximum comforter conformance. |

If the cloth had nap (geddit?) which aimed to the centre,
then micro movements would cause it to gradually creep
into a pile in the centre of the bed. Wouldn't completely
help, but at least the hogger would have some kind of
corrective action against them. |

Well, the opposite of the post: a tube blanket, encircling the bed or occupants, would accomplish much the same thing, but would disallow the option of sleeping with only a small amount of blanket, and would complicate getting up in the middle of the night, or in the morning. |

|
Not if the "tube" blanket was in fact a Möbius strip, allowing the
sleeper to sleep on both the inside and the outside of the blanket
simultaneously. |

Ideally sized for leaving on sunbeds, no doubt, as well as other
areas they wish to claim ownership of, like Alsace-Lorraine, the
Sudetenland, Poland, Belgium, france, Denmark, Holland
