Install a water wheel in the hydrogen engine's exhaust system, which will power a small alternator, which will produce energy. Several gerbil-wheels could be added in-line to increase torque output, adding even more energy.

This is the same idea behind "Exhaust-driven turbine alternators" except for the gerbil-wheels, and its for a hydrogen powered engine.

       I stand by the gerbils.

Anything combining rodentia and hydrogen gets my vote.

Gerbils on helium? Anyone want to vote for that?

Gerbils on Helium? That is just silly.

They don't half have high voices, though.

Will this reduce/decrease hydrogen pedelling ?????

       I speak for the gerbils,

Who have no voice of their own!

       Your idea would cook them,

       Your idea's a bone!

       To place gerbils in waterwheels

       Or the engine's exhaust stream,

       Must drown the little fellows,

Or cause their innards to steam!
