h a l f b a k e r yIncidentally, why isn't "spacecraft" another word for "interior design"?

Four clear lightweight plastic walls surround you, suspended
from your shoulders, creating a closed closet. A small
gyroscope keeps it level at all
times. An umbrella encloses it from above.
Anybody who wishes to enter the stadium or mall must use
one.
There are sleeves and gloves for
reaching and taking things,
but you cannot enter the stuff into your safe cell space.
When
done, leave the cell and retrieve your belongings.
And the nicest part about it is that you can hug people and
dance with them. Its a bit clunky but still.
A snorkel like pipe with a filter brings air from above and
pushes out it out from the bottom so there's always a flow of
fresh air downwards.
Green leaves attached to your pants do photosynthesis in
the
light, adding slightly to the oxygen content of your air for a
better feeling. (That part was added so you can say that
this
is bad science)

Remarkably bakeable and practical, would actually work, no downsides (apart from fashion but who cares about that) |
|
|
If the cell was opaque you could go around in the noody but you'd need a window to see out of that was not too big for other people to see in. |
|
|
You would need windscreen wipers to go out in the rain. |
|
|
You need an elasticated waist deck like kayakers use to seal around your tummy. |

Next up, high fashion runway models with absurdist masks... |
|
|
I briefly saw a video on the FastCompany website with an
advertisement showing a guy wearing a neat clear plastic
box which allows him to pick up groceries... |
|
|
But I can't find it. It may have been a parody laughing at
the idea. It looked a lot like the top of the square personal
tent from 2010 in the links, but was held by a backpack or
maybe tied to his shoulders. Could you help me find it? |

Voice, it would allow games and theatres and weddings to
open up again to the crowds. Wouldn't that be a good
thing? |

Covid still going strong. Anybody see the movie I referred to?
I can't find it... |

Coronavirus mutates and is very widely spread. As such it's as pervasive as many other viruses, but not nearly as deadly. Are we going to wear facemasks forever? This paranoia and authoritarianism is killing more people than the virus! |

What [Voice] said, but much more loudly, insistently, and with a total lack of compassion and human sympathy. |
|
|
Median fatality: 75 years old, 2 or more life-limiting conditions, 3 or more regular medications, 1-year survival 17% or less. |
|
|
No wonder the care homes have disproportionate casualties; the bug does what these bugs always do, hacking down the old and the ill. |
|
|
If you're under 65 and in reasonable health, you have (minimum) 3 times greater chance of dying in a vehicle accident. |
|
|
At the time of writing, in the UK, fatalities from ordinary boring old-fashioned influenza are running at between 2 and 3 times the level of COVID "fatalities". And these are fatalities FROM influenza, not just WITH influenza - the virus actually causes death, not just a contributory factor. |

A stout, rabbit-proof fence enclosing a couple of million
square
kilometers is also known to be effective. |
