       I imagine that if you go to the Wayback machine you can find some of his nuggets of wisdom. Also, he does exist as a real person outside the HB.

       // ...Wayback machine you can find some of his nuggets of wisdom.//

       I was just there, actually. I followed the link on your profile page, [IXXthly]. Then I got lost, as usually happens on the HB, roaming from idea to user to another idea to another user and so-forth and so-on until I forgot I was still on the Wayback machine.

       When I realized I was still on the Wayback machine, it gave me a sudden shudder of horror... thinking what might have been, had Zaphod left through the office door...

       Once a 'baker, always a 'baker.
zen_tom, Oct 17 2011

       //Once a 'baker, always a 'baker//

Is this right? "Once" implies a point in time where you became a 'baker, but "always" refers to all of time. So, logically, your statement says that you were a 'baker before you became a 'baker.

       [hippo] you make an interesting point - I repost thricely:

       i) Was Leonardo Da Vinci a 'baker? If so, then despite the non-existence of the halfbakery as we currently know it at the time of the Italian Rennaissance, then we must conclude that there is an abstract "halfbakery" to which people can become associated. In the same way a triangle is always a triangle, and doesn't need to log onto the "Triangulationry" (a fictional triangle-themed website) in order to be so determined.

       ii) While "Once" does often suggest an initial status, from which a previous status can be further inferred, it is also possible for something to happen once, and yet, always have been at the same time. In reference to the triangles above, a shape may be unknown to an individual, who may later identify it as a triangle. That identification event happens "once" - but it doesn't mean that the shape wasn't a triangle prior to its identification.

       iii) "Once a 'baker, always a 'baker" trips off the tongue far more easily that "Once a 'baker, henceforth, always a 'baker".

       //Once a 'baker, always a 'baker//

       //So we P dope ideas under the expectation they will be further annode ?//

       After researching several "Urban Dictionary" websites, I still haven't a clue what you are trying to say.

       However I have discovered that "Ham Wallet" is a new descriptive for vagina.
MikeD, Oct 17 2011

       Ah, that's a FET-ish thing, so [bigs] is still right. Although he could just be Channeling the spirit of Walter Schottky. But he's a Diode-in-the-wool halfbaker, so that's not surprising.

       A little Bias is permissible. Who knows what you might Gain ?

       This idea is somewhat baked in folklore. For example, when anecdotes about Charles Martel were re-attributed to Charlemagne, then... something.

       Yes, [score sans one-ly]. After perusing her page, I ventured out into some of her ideas, then clicked on the names of other 'bakers, then followed some of their ideas.... before I realized it I was lost in an unbakery. Had I been shunted into the business end of a total perspective vortex, I might have walked away with a stomach full of fairy cake. And, of course; What [evilpenguin] said.

       Wait - [XIX]! I just read on your profile page "I may be gone shortly".

       [Pertinax], i won't be gone shortly. I put that there just after [UB] left because i felt i was wasting too much time here, which is what i think he thought himself, but i've now decided it's good practice for writing and generating ideas for stories. I have no idea if that's just my subconscious telling me that and making me completely lost.

       I looked at [grayure]'s page and was surprised how few ideas there were.
nineteenthly, Oct 18 2011

       Yeah, that's easy for you to say [Ubie]. They don't sell that kind of lubricant here.

       As [Beep] so eloquently puts it, the "swiss cheese" effect is so profuse here at the bakery, I doubt the implementation of this idea would go noticed at all...
