In the future, everyone will wear hats. But hats of tommorow will be different than the ones we wear currently. Laws will be passed. Soon, not wearing a hat will become against the law...
This is why I suggest we create a flying hat now rather than when it's too late. Have you ever experienced a rather
strong wind? Have you ever exprienced a strong wind whilst wearing a hat? It's a rather large pain especially when it falls off.
With a propeller attached atop and a remote control in your pocket, you can guide your hat back onto your head. Almost like an R.C helicopter but a hat. :D
The propeller would have to be fairly strong meaning it may be slightly heavier but why get left behind in the past for the sake of an undamaged neck?
PS. This is one of the silliest ideas I've thought up...

Silly, yes. Perfect halfbaking, pretty much. [+] |

Pointy wizarding hats would be ideal for this..... [+] |

Any good postulate has two properties. It describes the current status quo, and predicts future observations. |

This idea has both, in moderation. |

You are going to need counter-rotating propellors, (who knows, chirality may be a future test). Of course, with correct choice of hat, this may not be a problem. But still, to control the hat you must hold it in *a relative* postion to you, or visa versa. This requires stability. |

If hats be the food of measure, then all the world is a head... ~ Appologies to "the bard" |

One could hack the remote and adjust the frequency, then use the remote to launch the hats of strangers from their heads, forcing the hijacked hats to engage in aerial hat combat. |

if you put vanes on the head part of your propeller hat the propwash will keep the hat from spinning... (?) |

Shirley "hat-to-hat" combat? |

I think ducted fans would allow more choices of styles and again vanes adjust in the prop wash to stop rotation. Also open propellors would cause hat battles to be very short unless that hats fired projectiles at opponents, and I'd really like a "hat sumo" type confrontation as that would avoid blinding bistanders or combattents. |

As for style I'd have to start with a bollar (sp.?), just for the Bond reference. Create a soft double wall design with a centrifugal fan at the top forcing air between the walls to vent all around the base where tiny flaps adjust direction and volume at each point on the rim to correct the flight path. |

No, this is a bit wacky and a little baked in "Meet the Robinson's", but it is way more serious than "13+". |

A good choice, as its radial symmetry would help with stability. |
