Quantum god

If god were sufficiently small, quantum smearing would explain his alleged omnipresence. His tendency to move in a mysterious way could likewise be accounted for by diffraction.

If the way that he chooses is straight and sufficiently narrow but provides two choices, does he end up interfering with himself?
RayfordSteele, Mar 11 2013

//Small, like a virus?// No, wayyyy smaller than that. It would be a question of how many gods you can fit on the head of a photon.

//does he end up interfering with himself?// On the basis of recent revelations from the Catholic church, I think that if you're going to interfere with anyone, it should really be yourself.

Which particular god are we talking about here?
DrBob, Mar 11 2013

I think there'd have to be only one, for the omnipresence deal to work safely.
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 11 2013

       God of the gaps?

My name is an electron/When I lose excitement, I give light/Am I not god?

.... and the idea here is?
xenzag, Mar 11 2013

Damn. Yes. The idea. OK, how about a religion based on the worship of smallness and the resulting quantumtude?
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 11 2013

I think it would need a smaller name. Also, since the quantum state of a quantum god is, by definition, unknowable, I think we need to drop the "ology" suffix.
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 11 2013

This would entail God being a Shrödinger God: he both exists and doesn't exist, at the same time.

zeno: that's an area also explored by Neil Gaiman in American Gods, and Michael Moorcock, in many of his books, and even StarGate WTF. But it has more to do with gods being powered by prayer than by quantum effects.

Inside and outside the meat processor there is the sensuous quantum information aether, that can be immersed in as dreams, or situated in as reality. Dreams can be as large as reality, but as a quantum energy field are concievably quite small.

In the name of the Fermion, the Meson and the holy Gluon.

I suppose the devil would be the Chameleon particle, speculated to be responsible for Dark matter?
xenzag, Mar 11 2013

       //In that case "göd".// That I like.

//Ämen.// Which reminds me of Å. And why doesn't "Angstrom" mean a maelstrom of angst?
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 11 2013

Hang in there. Someone once described manic depression as "riding a stationary cycle" - if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger.
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 11 2013

"In the de Broglie–Bohm picture of quantum mechanics there can exist empty waves, called ghost waves (or "Gespensterfelder," ghost fields)." [wikiP] Can we upgrade those to be "Holy Ghost Waves"?

Yo [bigs] stick around, please. If you've been round the loop a few times, you ought to know by now that the impossible happens whether you believe in it or not. If you haven't, take my word for it.
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 11 2013

I thought God was the Higgs Boson. Baked?
DIYMatt, Mar 12 2013

If I killed myself for everytime I've been depressed at the very least I'd be dead.
rcarty, Mar 12 2013

If we are micro to His macro... then am I quirky because He is quarky? Do we zig only when He zags?

I think if he was that small, then he can't be a he. Unless there is a male/female substitution of strange/ charm.
Ling, Mar 12 2013

//Do we zig only when He zags?// Only [Xen] zags.

//I think if he was that small, then he can't be a he// Well, there are quite a few particle pairs which differ only by a very small mass. Perhaps this reflects the mass of subatomic genitalia.
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 12 2013

So, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are quantumly entangled? That explains everything.
