Often we see very expensive cars with all kind of shabby curtains on the windows to block the sun or for security reasons.
If we make a window that has LCD in it we can decide how transparent or dimm the window will be.

Or you could go one step further and replace the windows with LCD screens connected to cameras (or am I being dim and missing the point that this is what you said anyway). You could let the kids watch TV on the back windows and stuff, that'd be cool! |

If you parked a car with those sort of electronics on it anywhere near my place it would be stripped down to the axle in about 30 seconds. |

you could have the screen facing outwards and run videos to make others think that you are a bunch of aliens, a gorgeous babe, or a dog...... |

You would NOT be able to show videos on something like this. Imagine double-paned windows with a layer of LCD in the middle. You don't need to have pixels, the entire window would be one big pixel. Just apply a small voltage and the entire window would fog up. It can be dimmed or brightened so it's not just on/off. It also wouldn't keep ALL the light out, but a large amount of it.
If it's just a layer of LCD sandwiched between panes of glass, it would not be very expensive. Of course, I'm sure that it would not ever be manufactured. When your window breaks in an accident, you would have LCD splash in your eyes and face. The lawsuits would be terrible. |

yes, but the previous posters were saying that if you hooked up lcd screens, full color, hi res, etc; you could play footage of an empty car to everyone on the outside of your vehical. or when you park you could make the inside look totaly thrashed......that way you dont atract bad things :-) |

Strictly speaking, this should be "liquid crystal windows", not "LCD windows". LCD stands for "Liquid Crystal Display", and you're not proposing a display (despite the annotations that suggest otherwise). |

Won't holographic technology soon be doing all this ... and more? |

You're displaying an empty car to the outside world - from a distance of 10 feet you would see the bottom half of the other side's window, right? Come closer, and you should see the seats. Not so with a 2D display. |

What if i really am an alien, gorgeous babe or dog? |
