Fake Ideas
Aka Trolling Halfbakery.. Post old, successful ideas as if new. | |
At last I found something to post in this category. Yey!
Have we seen ideas that were thrashed on HB but later succeeded
in
the real world? Yes. Example: parkmydriveway.com (was it?)
So, let us find out how much prejudice, insight, research, or
predicting power halfbakers have by posting
something from
kickstarter that actually reached the funding goal. See if
halfbakers
got it right or wrong by thinking it would or would not work. It is
against HB rules, I understand, but the ideas can be deleted once
it
is revealed that the idea is fake.
As an example, I can post an idea of a remote-controlled paper
airplane. Look it up, it was a big hit. I wonder how many would
have fishboned it.

//remote-controlled paper airplane// I'd have bunned it. |
I'm not gonna look it up but I assume it's a very lightweight set of RC servos with like a 100ft range, reusable on different paper airplanes. |
I'd probably pick a couple up if they were cheap and robust enough. |
meanwhile, what's the Idea ? to post something, that was successful outside these hallowed walls, just to see how it fares on the HB ? |
Just search for the word "baked". |
Oh. I thought this was going to be a list of the latest trolls. As you were... |
Or... we could hire bouncers to make sure people have the proper ideantification to get past the roped off red carpet. |
"Sorry sir. Your retractable boot-knife contains neither explosives nor any mace or nerve toxin delivery mechanism of any kind... no, no you can't bribe me with a Klondike bar. Yes sir, a lot of peoples' girlfriends are in there, now please, step back or things may have to get cerebral bub." |

Just because something exists in the real world, or
even was wildly successful in the real world doesn't
mean that it wasn't, in actuality, a really stupid idea. |
For instance, the NY Yankees. |

Don't forget black bile, yellow bile, phlegm and
blood. |
But the real way to do this is to find an old idea,
then improve and ramify it, spin it your way, and
make it your own. At the bottom cite the old idea:
a tip of the hat to what has gone before. That is
how real ideas work. |

This is easy enough to do without really trying. |

It's odd, but when people used to re-post old ideas
that got deleted when they got pissed and deleted
their accounts, it never worked out as well as the
first time it was posted. The response was always a
little tamer, and not as spontaneous. It's all in the
timing, I think. Some good ideas slip by because
they are posted at really slow viewing time. I've
seen it happen more than once. |
I used to know when the most popular time was to
post and I would do it then, to try and draw the
biggest audience. But nowadays, I'm fresh out of
creative ideas. Bone dry, as it were. |
oh, I thought this was like faking an orgasm. |
Posting here is like doing stand-up comedy. It's all in
the timing, delivery, and knowing the audience. |
