Plastic rings that line your trousers and keep them lifted away from the skin, ensuring that the clearance at all points is comfortably larger than the longest mosquito proboscis you're likely to encounter in the wild.

In particlarly heavily infested areas it may be necessary to extend the principle to a full-body zentai suit.

Getting a strange feeling of deja vue....

Mosquitoes aside, I attracted too much of the wrong kind of attention with my full body hentai suit.

What's needed is some sort of fabric with deep ribs or regularly-spaced nurples. At the same time, it needs to be lightweight and breathable, since mosquitoes are notable for their abundance in tropical regions.

Or how about fur? I don't mean animal fur (which would be impractical in warm climes), but maybe a lighweight fabric that has 1/4" bristles pointing outward, spaced maybe a couple of millimetres apart.

It would work rather like those wire spikes that keep pigeons off ledges.

An easy to implement suggestion would be undergarments. I know some are philosophically opposed.

Wrongfellow might consider other-than-skin-tight trousers. Trousers with a bit of a drape to them would make it hard for people to see you are flexing your hams, but would be more offputting to the mosquitoes. The logical extension of this would be a burnoose, sewed closed at the bottom and tucked into your boots.

Integrating a looser garment with Max's bristle suggestions, the bristles need only be in areas where gravity compels the garment to lie close to skin. For the burnoose that would be only the shoulders. This would be a remarkable looking combination, with Max's bristles sprouting from the shoulders in a manelike collar. Maybe bristles at the top of the boots too, for symmetry.

Times like this I miss FarmerJohn and his illustrating abilities.
