some pants have zippers at the knees which can be unzipped to remove the bottom half of the pants but i hate zippers especialy when i land on the ones that are on my knees. so instead of using zippers we use ziplock locks to attached the lower half of thyour pants to the upper part. no more in the way zippers

       Ziplocks are too weak and feeble for this, I'd have thought.

       I agree, I do not think it will hold but it is a good start. Maybe some kind of super ziplock but I am afraid it will be annoying also. Taking the above idea with zippers what about something simple like adding extra cushion between zippers and the knee area.

       I think ziploc zippers on the knees would be equally uncomfortable. Just move them up so they’re an inch above the knee.

       And would still leave a large ridge for your knee to hit. I've slashed my knee open in many a paintball tourney because of the bulky metal zipper. I'm with [blissy] on this one - hook-and-loop. I'm not sure if you've been exposed to knee sliders and hook-and-loop patches for motorcycle racing applications on leathers, but I need a sturdy screwdriver to PRY mine off ...
