Hi i have this idea if you get an 18mm image intensifier and put a photocatode on 1 side and a phorsphor screen on the other side and have some small optic lens to focus it on each side and it would be only about 5cm long.so it wouldnt look as stupid as the big goggles. thanks

       Hi, Sheamus. Welcome to the halfbakery.   

       It sounds like what you are describing is essentially *just* an image intensifier. I'm not sure what the phosphor screen would do. Perhaps you could elaborate a bit more?
