Your Portrait Created By A Spider is a method of obtaining a graphic depiction of your self image, made by a spider. Here's how it works:
You begin by emailing to 10zag labs the image you want rendered by the spider, where it's first processed to a high contrast halftone. This halftone is then rendered
in the form of a 2D matrix of 3 dimensional dots. (think graph paper with a small ball bearing sized dot at each intersection, only the lines are very thin wires suspended in an enclosing frame) Because we actually make all of the intersection halftone dots the same size, the image is not readable at this stage.
Once the matrix has been constructed, the wires are connected to an ultra low voltage electrical supply, but only the ones that serve the dots required to construct the half-tone image receive any current. These are identified by the engineers because they have a tiny additional mark on them that's only visible in UV light.
This entire construction is then introduced to the spider in a suitable location to promote the construction of a web. The spider will now begin creating a web, but will carefully avoid all of the dots that are receiving the electrical charge. Over time, the web begins to emerge, with the spider's construction filling in the detail that completes and makes legible the portrait image. Time lapse film records the entire process.
10zag labs will deliver "Your Portrait Created By A Spider" along with its power supply, video recording and living spider for you to place in a location of your choice.

Interesting, but I don't know that the spider would
waste time filling in all of the negative space. |
|
|
They're not good at keeping track of time. |

You'd probably want to avoid the orb-weaving species, favouring
instead something like the redback (US - black widow), whose
webs are by default more random (hence, more even) fillers of
space. |
|
|
I don't think it will matter.... as long as they only fill in the spaces where there is no deterring current, the image will be formed. |
|
|
You're not understanding the point. Most of a web
is empty space. It will remain empty space. |

Wouldn't it be easier to mount a spider on a servo arm and tickle it inappropriately ? |

I want a spider web portrait of Mr. Zuckerman's pig. |
