Obviously the fans would blow in from the sides, but you could get the racers going hundreds of miles per hour.

The single most dangerous race a human could engage in.

Mine, and it turns out, 2 fries idea of a wind tunnel race illustrated. https://www.dropbox...7o&st=r0z7tyjn&dl=0
I wanted it to just be fans below like 2 fries showed but the AI art is sometimes hard to control at this point. [doctorremulac3, Aug 04 2024]

Advanced level: 2 laps - racers need to fly THROUGH the big fan.

       I love this idea!
The fact that I posted it almost 20 years ago is completely irrelevant to how much I like the idea of indoor flying Superman Roller Derby. [link] The math buffs on site at the time estimated speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

Hmm. I was thinking of horizontal blowers getting the flyers up to 400, 500 mph but yea, you thought of the general idea first.

Let me see if I can add a further innovation to salvage this from being too baked. My guys wear hats or something.

Well if your turbines are horizontal then that's different enough. I pictured body surfing on a vertical cushion of air.

I imagined the usual track running races but into a 60mph head wind
