A large proportion of dwellings in the developed world* are equipped
with flush WC systems discharging into sewers**.
This means there is an extensive network of piping of minimum
100mm diameter.
Apart from the WC, most domestic wastewater can be safely
discharged into street drains.
Under
the scheme proposed, WCs would be replaced with "dry"
closets
that compact waste into biodegradable sealed waxed-cardbord
cylindrical cartridges.
These cartridges are then despatched via the new 100mm
pneumatic
tube network installed in the former sewers to centralised facilites
for
processing and disposal.
The same tubed system can then also be utilised for sending and
receiving goods which can withstand the g-forces involved.
Disruption to existing infrastructure is minimised, and much water is
conserved.

** not france. Or Belgium, either (apparently). Or maybe the stench
just drifts Northward on the breeze ..

Why would one want to sew pneumatically? |

Put it in the post, addressed to your favourite political recipient; then you don't need tubes at all. |

8th: let me acquaint you with Igordo Kang and his
marvelous but devastating vegan korean burritos.
We will see if the waxed cardboard is doughty
enough to receive the intestinal fury they provoke.
And if so, or partially so, we will see how the
pineapples taste after receiving them thru the same
tube that just send out the used burrito. |

"In a lunar colony with very little water, a two way air transport might work well. Might not need pipes if aim was good." he said flushed with excitement. |

I'm gonna guess that, for awhile, people will either be walking buckets over to hydroponics, or utilizing the "linked sausages" method detailed in another post. |
