This relatively normal-looking sword would be designed to take the honor out of honorable combat. The pommel would have a three round gyrojet. The blade would be spring-loaded to suddenly extend out by an extra foot. The blade would also be rigged to deliver a powerful shock. The guard would include a firing tazer on one side and pepper spray on the other. Just add some poison and you'll have one of the most deadly, underestimate-able swords imaginable.

       Hmmm.

The original "electric pile" consisted of a stack of alternating copper and silver discs separated by moist paper. Such a stack can generate a voltage proportional to the number of discs. I wonder if a sword could be fashioned from a stack of blade-cross-section pieces of bronze and silver, such as to generate a high voltage intrinsically.

Possibly, but it would rust out in the process.

I thought it was copper and zinc?

Regardless - the electrolyte (moist paper) is essential to making a working battery. Your stack won't make for a particularly strong sword if they're all separated by bits of moist paper.
