The Grim Reaper Safe Driving Campaign

"Drive like an ass, and fly through the glass!"

A public service campaign where a cartoon grim reaper mockingly urges people to do stupid driving behaviors that will get them killed. He does so using limerick and rhyme.

He would appear wearing various clothing accessories to address particular groups.

Rural (wearing a cowboy hat)

"Hit that curve fast in your pickup truck, because it's fun to test your luck!"

(Then show the guy crashing and death laughing.)

Urban rapper. (He's already got the hoodie.)

"You be cool? That's what you think. But now you're dead, you didn't blink."

Urban sophisticate:

"Safe rules don't apply to you, so now you're just a pile of goo."

I was taught in school about the effects of unsafe driving by being shown gory movies like "Red Asphalt" where they show actual dead bodies. It had a great impact on me, I've always been a very safe driver. Now today's youth are pampered and not shown such disturbing images so I guess it's better that they just get killed rather than being triggered in some people's view.

This would be a way to put the screechin' back in teachin'.

Something like this guy. https://goo.gl/images/hcSnsG
But wearing some different clothing accoutrements for each segment. [doctorremulac3, Jan 21 2019]

Well, we could make one that applies it to the English as well.

(Wearing a monocle and holding a snifter of sherry.)

"You're think that you're so very smart, but now you're just a maggot fart."

       He'd be very inclusive. :)

Not getting sucked into this again.

1- English person makes a nasty insult about America...

2- I respond by making a nasty insult about the nasty insult...

3- I get blamed for being nasty.

I love America, I love England, I don't get any perceived increase in self worth by insulting a group of people. There's good and bad in everybody.

There's even good in you Max.

By the way, how's that space program of yours coming along?
doctorremulac3, Jan 21 2019

Slowly. He won't pay us for the parts, even the stuff we made specially and have already delivered.

Reading your list, we regard it more efficient to skip the first two items and just to go straight to No.3.

// it would improve the American appreciation of irony, over the course of a few generations. //

We would dispute that. Consider ...

Americans continue to shoot one another at an undiminished, if not increasing, rate. Then you introduce a major advertising campaign which makes Americans who do not understand irony significantly more likely to die in automobile accidents.

So, what's wrong with this picture ... ? After further thought, nothing ...

His name would be "Reapy" and he'd make particularly ironic parodies of the English.

So I understand you guys have hired Lockheed Martin to help you with the complicated parts of actually having a space program. So far you've got a beautiful rocket design that's actually entered the badly rendered 3D model stage. (link)

       Good for you!

// he'd make particularly ironic parodies of the English. //

Which would mean he was, in effect, English, as ironical self-parody is a mainstream form of popular entertainment.

       // No offence intended. //

Please, don't include us in that.

Well, see ya on Mars boys. The superior civilization is the one that gets there first.

You be ironic, we'll pave the path to the future.
doctorremulac3, Jan 21 2019

You will ? There's a reason the Industrial Revolution started in England. It's because of people like Abraham Darby, who built the first Iron Bridge in Coalbrookdale, and Thomas Newcomen, who built the first practical reciprocating-piston steam engine.

Both required the use of large amounts of iron, and as [MB] has pointed out, Americans don't understand irony ...

//There's a reason the Industrial Revolution started in England.//

I understand your pride. I made a touchdown playing football in the 5th grade.
doctorremulac3, Jan 21 2019

Absolutely true, (the first part, don't understand the second part) using technology we invented almost a century ago. (Goddard and the liquid fueled rocket)

But if China gets to Mars first, they're obviously the technologically superior civilization, at least in terms of stealing American aerospace technology and putting it into actual use. Russia is Mexico with nukes so I won't even comment.

That being said, the contest continues. Stay tuned.

I'm gonna applaud whoever does it. They'll deserve it.

By the way, it's not that going on and on about how stupid Americans are doesn't make for scintillating conversation, but if anybody wants to steer this back towards the original idea, which I think is pretty good, I'd welcome that.
doctorremulac3, Jan 21 2019

It's a really great idea, [doc].
MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 21 2019

       Thank you Max.

Especially for not saying "It's a "really great" idea."
