Almost a vacation.

This is a booth where you can pay a nominal fee to generate a realistic simulation of echoing mountain valleys. But it only “sounds” like a huge echo, from where you stand. During your allotted time, you may sing, shout, and/or enjoy a therapeutic scream. It’s located in the city center, and probably in a few science museums.

Select a “destination”, and it’s displayed along with a carefully mapped echo of the spot. Choose sound effects, such as eagle call, wolves howling, whale song, etc. Sites include the Himalayas, Grand Canyon, the Marianas Trench, and Westminster Abbey.

Or go stand under a bridge in Central Park for free.

A big 'Yes.' I did occasionally do some singing under bridges, but it's no longer considered safe, so I had to stop. *sigh* +

Get a sound card that supports EAX and you can do this at your desk.

"Hol a Rührei, hol a Radio"
Bavarian yodelling for dummies.
Anyone know what it means?
squeak, Jul 23 2003

[squeak] Get a scrambled egg, get a radio?

I still occasionally scare grannies with a booming "DAYO...dayo" when biking under viaducts.

FJ: Aha - now we know what you do for a day job!
DrCurry, Jul 23 2003
