So apparently there is a Tesla valve. <link>. This resists
flow 10-200x more in one direction than the other. Like
a
leaky physical diode. But, like a leaky diode, it has no
moving parts. Moving parts are what fail in valved pulse
jets. DIY valved pulse jets often consider the spring-steel
moving valve element a consumable. My dad had an
Norton
that had consumable valves once, but that's probably not
related.
Anyhow, air comes through the Tesla valve set, I'm
inclined
to think that many in parallel would work best, fuel is
injected, spark, rapid conflagration, whooshing gas out
of
the exhaust, blow leaves around. Lovely.
Now, big fiery pulses are fun, but perhaps not practical
for
leaf redistribution. How about several combustion
chambers running in carefully synchronized fashion? OR,
a
second larger capacity Tesla valve on the exhaust. Should
even out the flow. Nice.

Actually, yes. Why has nobody investigated Tesla-
valved pulse jets? |
|
|
(Coincidentally, I have a small plastic Tesla valve that
I ordered from a 3D printshop out of curiosity. It
certainly has much more resistance in one direction
than in the other, though I don't know if it's enough of
a difference to work in a pulse jet.) |

Someone needs to design a true 3d Tesla valve. Not just an essentially planar flow valve. I do remember someone designing a gun suppressor in a similar fashion. If it works as well as he says in that direction it would work well in the other direction, supposedly. |

A search for 3d valvular conduit under images [link] is as close as I've been able to find for a cylindrical Tesla valve... if that's what you mean by true 3d Tesla valve. |

Redistribution, maybe not. Incineration, definitely yes. |

What else would you want ? |

[+] on the assumption that this could also be used as
a jet engine and flame thrower as well. |
