Adam was having a really bad day. He slumped into his chair and typed out his tale of woe. This made him feel much better, especially as comments of support and "that sucks for you" votes started coming through.

Then he started reading how bad others were doing that day, and realised that compared to some his day was really just a series of annoying coincidences. He even dropped $2 on a particularly nasty story involving a cat and a bowl of spaghetti.

Adam's $2 eventually went to the "that sucks for you" story of the day. He was also surprised to have won the hourly TSFY prize, and suddenly Adam had a much better outlook on life.

The "that sucks for you" website is part lottery, part competition, and all comfort in the cold world that is the human condition.

Sooo... Basically fmylife.com, but with tipping?

You beat me to it, [ytk]. fmylife is funny for a bit, until you realise it's more losers in one spot than the Battle of Troy.

What keeps people from making up BS stories, like fmylife.com?
DIYMatt, May 14 2012

Aren't all stories an amalgam of truth, fiction and downright lies?
UnaBubba, May 14 2012

Yeah, having a place to share stories and condolences is cool, but any time you turn something into a competition you invite bullshitters.

       I never heard of fmylife.com and now I have I wish I hadn't.
Phrontistery, May 19 2012

But aren't you glad you've heard of the HalfBakery? In all things, there is balance.

// Aren't all stories an amalgam of truth, fiction and downright lies? //

       Yes.

I knew of this site but was too inert to join ;)

You certainly seem to have the punning chops to hold your own here.
Alterother, May 19 2012

I'd rather hold mine than anyone else's.
