Prior to today, I had encountered the phrase "sugar pie" as a term of endearment, but had never known it to be anything else. A quick Googling revealed that there indeed is such a thing (link).
Nevertheless, I have here a proposal for a Sugar Pie recipe different enough from the others that perhaps
this Idea can escape an MFD. So, here goes....
For the crust of this pie, we want crystallized sugar. In school science class you may have encountered an experiment in which sugar water is allowed to evaporate, and a string suspended in the water becomes encrusted with interconnected sugar crystals.
We want to arrange things so that the whole pie pan inner surface becomes encrusted like that --not individual loose crystals, but a solid mass.
Then we fill the pie shell with cotton candy, otherwise known as "spun sugar". Some packing of the cotton candy may be appropriate to increase the mass of the Sugar Pie. You might consider using layers of different colors/flavors of cotton candy.
You may now serve it to anyone who dares desire to eat some of what is TRULY a Sugar Pie!

Save all the Agro. Fill the pie with loaf sugar (Sugar lumps) Mine own preference would be to cover with rum or whisky. Well. There is no law to say the sugar can't be liquid. Probably have to fight off the takers though. |

My Gramma used to take the leftover bits of pastry from
making regular pies, flatten it out, add a bunch of brown
sugar and a dollop of butter then bake. The sugar/butter
mix would liquefy then harden as it cooled. Mmmmmm. |
