Spreada Betta Feta
Yummy Taste of feta cheese with the spreadability of Cheez Whiz/Cream Cheese/Ricotta/etc. | |
I got this idea after eating some flat bread with feta cheese and honey with a friend one day. Feta is notoriously crumbly and chunks were constantly falling off my bread onto the plate. Crumbles are great as salad toppings but I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice if Feta also came in a nice creamy tub or
squirt bottle version to spread on sandwiches and bread or to use as a dip?" Just add a little cream/milkfat/emulsifier/whatever it takes to make it creamy and voila!
Spinach and Feta spread
http://www.lactanti...heese.com/products/ (Third from bottom on page.) If you can make it with spinach, you can surely make it without. I don't know what it tastes like, though. [kropotkin, Oct 05 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

Or you could melt the Feta in the oven or a saucepan. Good title. |

Apparently baked with added spinach (see link), but I'm not sure how much Feta that spread actually contains. |

Kropotkin, the dip you found is described as "Lactantia Cream Cheese paired with morsels of feta cheese and leaves of spinach." To me, "morsels" implies that the feta is still pretty much crumbly and unspreadable. |

You can nuke it in a microwave to make it creamy, but very, very gently. Tastes great with burnt chunks of dead sheep. |
