For children (five? and up) who have started to accumulate a vocabulary there should be a soup that contains "word" noodles; a sufficient number of articles, nouns, verbs, etc. for the construction of sentences. Theme related or promotional varieties could be offered as well: LOTR, Spongebob, Harry Potter, etc.

Make each ingredient spell out its own name, and you've got potential there! Noodles that say "noodle", celery that says "celery", and carrots sliced to look like the word carrot.
