Scaffold Art
Large paintings to cover up scaffolding on buildings | |
Lets face it, there is only one thing uglier and filthier than an old Scottish town, and thats a new one with scaffolding destroying the view.
Scaffolding looks awful. It is an eyesore. It destroys the whole beauty that a town or city can have. But, scaffolding is needed to ensure safety of workers.
The
solution?
Giant paintings to go on the side of the scaffolding. They would look impressive, they would help out local artists, and most importantly, they'd cover up scaffolding.

Over the scaffolding of a building under construction near my work, was an actual size picture of how the finished building would look. |
Yeh, i've seen those as well. It was part of my inspiration, i kinda wanted to see propper art, like giant prints of the Mona Lisa, Sunflowers, etc. But alas... |
Lowry or Escher would be good. bun for you. |
hey we know an artist or two, do we not? |
Or an actual-size picture of how the building looks with scaffolding on it. |
How about something by Christo? |
This would be good. Almost every vacation spot we have visited has had scaffolding on a major building. Big Ben, Cinderella's castle, Eiffel tower, "Falling Water" in Pennsylvania, you get the idea. There would be at least something colorful in my photos, and would dampen the disappointment a bit. |

Something by Christo - heh! |

I'm croissanting this beacuse I'd like to see more of it. I agree with po, Escher would be great or Turner, or almost anything from the renaissance. But not Mondrain. |

Every now and then a weekend idea gets lost in the dripple. I like this and I want to see it return to the top. So I will not only croissant, but toss in a kind word or two. [eeks] provide link por favor. I would like to see examples of this, it sounds lovely. |

They're currently rennovating the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin; the sheeting over the scaffolding is covered by a huge, stylised picture of the Brandenburg Gate .... |
Viz. also Fort Dunlop in Birmingham which has a huge "poster" display on its side. Anything that conceals bits of Birmingham from view will gets a croissant ........ |
