Men are insensitive sometimes(alot). With relationship insurance we could quickly afford to buy flowers or jewelry (with a higher premium) to earn our loves forgiveness.

What's wrong with a credit card and 1-800-FLOWERS?

[jurist] sounds like the voice of experience!

Is "bone" in relation to what you do after the apology to said loved one or what you gave as a vote?
sartep, Aug 22 2004

woo, rack out the steriotype check-list! on the actual idea - yea fishbone just because its invented in the form of credit cards as stated. I actually expected to see an idea along the lines of 'insurance if it doesnt 'work out'" with the title.

What [contracts] (in his 1st anno) and [bwv] said.
Machiavelli, Aug 22 2004

I've always been unlucky in love. A friend of mine once put it like this - "You know what our problem is? We're nice guys. Women don't want guys like us like us. They want to date bastards and then turn them into guys like us." I'm not saying I wholly agree, but I definately saw his point.
lostdog, Aug 22 2004

Wow, that's a generalization if I ever heard one, [lost]. I'll never date a bastard and I know several other women who feel the same way as me. It's just a question of finding the right person at the right time.
Machiavelli, Aug 22 2004

He made this remark when we were both in our early twenties, and trying desperately to get members of the opposite sex to even talk to us. I think what he meant was that, when making a first impression, confidence, brashness and loudness make more of an impact than consideration, kindness and depth of character. Sensitive guys have more of a slow burn attraction.

(DId I mention that I'm allergic to Dandelions?)
lostdog, Aug 22 2004

[lostdog] let me give you an original quote of mine, and I hope you find some comfort in it:

"There is no greater treasure in the world than a woman who clearly understands the difference between male behaviour and manly behaviour."
ConsulFlaminicus, Aug 23 2004

Did you seriously come up with that one, [CF]? Good one.

[lost], what do dandelions have to do with anything?
Machiavelli, Aug 23 2004

Aside from the perpetual inappropriateness of throwing money at problem (unless, of course, your problem is that you are no good at throwing money), the relationship insurance won't work because, well, who wants grey-leather-shoe-wearing loss adjusters sniffing around your wife, mistress and underpants every time you stray? And while these balding, bespectacled personifications of actuarial sexual repression rake through your drawers, lifting undergarments with the rubber tipped end of a so sharp 2H pencil, your standing before the woman scorned, palms up as if to say "It's all for you" is hardly going to go down a storm.

[Consul] - What is the differemce between male & manly behaviour?
energy guy, Aug 23 2004

       "what is the difference?"

Coming home from a lousy day at the office and wanting only to growl at the wife and dog, plop into a chair and watch tube, versus coming home from a lousy day at the office, saying to the wife, "I had a lousy day, mind if I veg? I love you", kiss wife, pat dog, and plop down in a chair and watch tube.

If manly means behaving like a man, and not an animal, the first is male, the second is manly. A woman who understands will simply let him. speaking as a woman married nearly 30 years.
dentworth, Aug 23 2004

uh huh. When I got pissed off it was usually my lover who would be able to cheer me up.

//We're nice guys. Women don't want guys like us like us. They want to date bastards and then turn them into guys like us//

Girls, let's face it. It's not nice, but it's true. The truth isn't necessarily nice, it just is. Love can be a horrible, subconscious game.
