Beneath the soles of footwear resides rectangular wooden blocks with inward-facing grooves (towards the shoe that fits on the other foot). The grooves (slots) are curved resembling smiley faces that abruptly drop vertically at the front and back.
At the center of the blocks are universal joints
connecting the blocks / shoes / feet / legs via a telescopic pole.
Leg movements are restricted by slot width. The only way to take a step is to put one foot in front of the other.

This sounds kind of like punishment to me ... On the other hand, better balance would be a good pay-off |
I thought this was going to be a hamster wheel like thing so you could walk on a balence beam until you got bored. |
when you fall over, your mother says "wipe that beam off your face" |
"don't come running to me when you break your leg" |
its all fun and games until someone loses an I |
I can't see this. Could you post a pic? |
Picture walking with your shoes joined together on a sliding track, like a drawer track, only it pivots as well. Am I close? |
If you figure out how to stick the dismount I'll give you a 9.8 |

A pic for yall. Admittedly this is difficult to explain with words alone. The angled view displays the sole attachments. - Both feet are on the ground in this view. <link> Now that I look at it [k_sra], it looks more like a kayak oar than the air-cast it is based on. |

[RayfordSteele], so close Id have to say you are correct. |
[2 Fries], dismount = jumping with a twist or semi-flipping in this scenario., like a bunny-hop or a teensy-cart... Or just take your shoes off. |
