There was a time when lepers were expected to advertise the fact by rending their clothes and walk around crying out. This was probably not very nice for them. Today, the occurrence of headlice, scabies and other parasites, mainly among children, is most unpopular among the parents of their peers, and they feel stigmatised. The solution is this: produce a range of clothes that they will consider super-trendy, particularly hats, but which they will only be permitted to wear when they are infested. That way, they will advertise the fact that they are contagious but feel OK about it. Alternatively, it might wear down slavish and shallow adherence to fashion among preteens. There could be a designer label consisting of an outline of a headlouse emblazoned on a top, or a hat of a subtle but distinctive design, or just a hugely magnified fluorescent pink scabies mite you can wear on your head.

Much like the ever-so-popular dunce cap.

Or you could just breed multi-color fleas and things, to match whatever clothes you're wearing today. Not.

The problem is...any piece of clothing only worn by people with icky diseases will automatically be seen as unfashionable. Also, how do you control that only infected people wear it? You could easily create a cult around wearing these things just to scare others.

why not infest the celebs with that? teens would die to get headlice or scabies then. No fashion designs needed.

On the other hand, just bring back the 1600's.

I think you are looking for a creative outlet for a problem that people don't want to know about. Parasites are yucky, but truly anyone can get them. I got an intestinal parasite from a fancy hotel in St. Thomas.( I used the ice cubes made from sink water.) Although not contagious, it was terrible. I think people need more information about these subjects, because as the world grows larger, so does our probability of contracting these things. So, a bun for your thoughtfulness.
