National Protest Day

The Society for Baring Breasts (or whatever it was) just spent the weekend annoying... and, yes... titillating passers-by in and around a public park, having been denied a permit to hold a rally or something, all roundly ignored by police.

The fact that a) it's legal to walk around topless for both sexes, b) you don't need a permit to have a picnic in a park (that being what parks are for), and c) they stated quite boldly on the application that the women who were taking part intended to go topless and the men to wear bikini tops, may just possibly have something to do with the fact that the City couldn't be arsed to issue them a permit, and suggested they take their invisible protest to the local nudist beach.

Anyways, the idea is for nutcases to have a recognized day to blow off steam and grind their invisible axes; they can all rally at government buildings where the employees are given the day off and the newsies get one-stop-shopping for some filler pieces for the next week or two.

I imagine the conspiracy theorists would fit in there, might even have room for those that believe that conspiracy theories are a conspiracy.

In fact, all conspiracy theories are thought up and promulgated by a secret Government department, but They don't want you to know that …

Well, on the one hand this would be a fun way to get people into seeing protest as a perfectly normal activity but on the other hand, having a specific day allocated for protesting might be used as an excuse to restrict protest on every other day but then, on the third hand, government employees get a day off, which is a clincher for me [+].

I think this would lead to protests on every other day of the year except for this one.

As an added twist, make protesting compulsory on this day. That way we can find out the most common pet peeve of the man on the street.

What would you do though if you strongly objected to the idea of Protest Day?

have they considered a Flasher Mob?

//Would it also extend to other illegal forms of protest// "other illegal"? missed that bit first time round.

Quite legal here. Nobody bothers of course. That was my point: they picked a place where walking 'round topless is legal... to protest that they can't walk around topless.

// most common pet peeve //

Stupid compulsory Protest Day! I could be indoors where it isn't <insert weather condition here>!
