I was watching the cool moire patterns formed by the wire cage of my electric fan as it slowly pivoted back and forth. And I wondered if a cleverly designed wire cage could be made such that the moire patterns formed an animation of, for example, a persons head slowly rotating. Any ideas?

Subtle kinks and twists of the bars should allow somthing like that. The mathematics to work out which bends go where will probably require variable resolutions real numbers. I do not know the solution, but I admire the problem. |
