Maggot Race

Maggot Race consists of the foolish human participants crawling and wriggling towards the finishing line inside sleeping bags, imitating the characteristic movement technique of maggots.

They are not permitted to stand up or move in a way that is too similar to that of a caterpillar. Spectators can encourage them by baiting them along with tasty morsels, like rotten apples, dangled just out of reach on the end of fishing poles.

Sounds good for a birthday party. For kids, anyway. I think adults would prefer two to a sleeping bag, and might not make much progress -- at least not toward the finish line. Probably you can hold on to your apples, but spectators ought to be able to pelt the contestants with beach balls or something.

Yikes! Thanks for the Glastonbury link. That looks like great fun for someone else to have.

I just deleted that comment. I think that's a first for me in these circumstances. I was actually going to delete the whole idea as being too silly, even for me, but it seems to be a bit popular, so it can stay.

       uh-oh! now I'm confused....
xandram, Feb 25 2009

It's gone now, so the confusion will be minor, and not worth worrying about. No need to back-track that much.
