An old halfbaker posted on Facebook today his shock at
just how expensive tickets to Hamilton continue to be --
higher now on resale sites than directly. Obviously a
certain amount of herd instinct is at play, but clearly,
certain shows and movies struggle, while there seems to
be
no end
to superhero movies breaking $1B at the box
office for the foreseeable future.
Let it not be said that [tc] has NEVER met a
redistribution
idea he liked!
It seems that a sports league type of system would be
warranted here. The Yankees consistently make more
money than other baseball teams, but they share it to
continue making the other teams competitive -- they
can't
as it were play against themselves, can they. Salary caps
et.al.
Why don't we institute the same exact system for movies
and Broadway shows, and, voila, no more starving
artists!
Sure your lousy play about the suffering you endure when
the Starbucks gets delivered late by Uber Eats and the
driver gives you a look like you're supposed to tip him
even
though the coffee is cold. But you can still continue to
struggle, and create!
Oh, the cultural forces we will unleash! The number of
new shows we can produce! The benefit to humankind is
incalculable!
Please discuss on the flight back from Cannes, and take
it
easy on the Chateau Latour
