Lapidation At The OK Corral

Remake The Same Western Movie Over and Over for Targeted Demographics

In this first remake version of the 1957 classic movie "Gunfight at the OK Corral" the weapon of choice is rocks. Obviously artistic license and a nod to the original plot line has the Sharia Sheriff Earp standing across from the stagecoach robber, each combatant having a pile of rocks to heave at each other (rather than the more traditional ring of rock tossers aiming at one poor schmuck).

Other remakes of the exact same western movie will feature a Goth theme, a Science Fiction theme, a Titanic theme, a Mr. Bean theme, a Soap Opera Manic Depressive theme, etc. Each successive picture will be a little cheaper to produce since many of the props can be used over and over again.

Hmmm. A few drive-by bonings and a drive-by bun. Maybe I should have picked Ben Hur...

Misread this as "Lapdance at the OK Corral", which is a different film entirely.

Don't see why not - it's already happened before when Westerns copied all the Samurai films, so why not let it go through (yet) a further metamorphosis?

Take Last Man Standing - and there are at least 3 versions of the same film set in three separate settings (Feudal Japan, The Wild West, and if I remember correctly, downtown Chicago) There are other examples of samurai/western/mob crossovers, and you could probably find a few kung-fu versions as well.

So the idea doesn't really seem all that new - as there are plenty of examples of the "Western" theme (i.e. wherin a lone - often wandering - warrior faces off against a corrupt regime of one kind or another) it's just one of those archetypical things.

Mightn't we describe Achilles as the very first cowboy?

"Now get down out of Troy, Paris. And drink your milk!"
