The cucumbers are coming up great this year. Having empty pickle jars hanging from the fence to act as miniature greenhouses for each one hasn't hurt any and the screen wrapped around the openings is doing a dandy job of keeping the bugs out. The only problem; now the cucumbers are too big to get out
of the jars.
Well just wait another week or two and pickle those puppies in place.
Next up: Jar of pickled ostrich egg.

dad used to have large jars in his pharmacy, I am pretty sure he called them winchester bottles, mind you they had a narrow neck I seem to remember. |

how will you get the pickle out of jar? maybe a in-jar slicing device will help? |

I wonder if pickling while still attached to the plant might affect pickle texture. Brine on the outside of the vegetable would likely draw in more water from the plant. |
