Inspired by 'roaming bar stools'.
Bar stools that are based on similar electronics to those automatic vacuum cleaners, combined with similar software to what makes elevators choose which floors to service.
Ever been sick of looking for a spare chair/stool for your party of 5 in a bar? Hit a button
in the middle of your table, and the stool drives itself to you. If there aren't any spare, then the computer will start a queue for you.
You'd obviously need some sort of way of telling it if a stool was taken (time delay if someone went to the bar?)
maybe the chair could walk over to you!

Great idea. You could also assign a hierarchy to seating so that if you, as a woman, needed a chair and none was available, a young gent could be automatically expelled from his! |
This is awesome, I haven't seen a roomba in action, but wouldn't it be tough for them to avoid obstacles/ depending on foot traffic. Maybe rails instead? A designated chair lane? Or you could give them a horn, or speakers might be fun. |
If a bar could implement this the simple novelty of it could bring tons of business. |

welcome to the halfbakery, we saved you a chair...
muwahahahaha |
I'm wondering if it was done well, you could use this in conference/event venues? For example, it'd be no trouble to use the same principle in tables too as well as chairs. |
When they set up for a new conference, they press a button/select it on the computer, and all the tables and chairs reorganise themselves as they want. |
Can't get this out my head now! And yes, the idea of speakers and a horn is quite superb! |
//all the tables and chairs reorganise themselves as they want// thankyou [tmassey] for the picture of patrons chasing mobile furniture around like greased hogcatchers. |
Once sat upon they quiesce after a little grumbling, but until then they can be quite wily and evasive. Get up to go to the bathroom and off it goes again. |
Pull up a chair... if you can catch it. |
Haha! I'd be an AI genius if the chairs had a preferred layout for themselves! |
Someone once called me an intelligent barstool. I think. |
Are you sure they didn't mean Clever Deck Chair ? |
The sight of the furniture moving around of its own accord would have over-indulgers fleeing in terror in search of a branch of the Salvation Army ... |
+1 if they could be used to escort disorderly patrons to the door. |
could also be turned on side for an impromptu back massage |

Yes, I think so. And somebody else said I was a cult. |
Did they also comment that you appear to have followed a career in financial services, as a banker maybe ? |
Isn't it time you bought a new battery for that hearing aid ? |
I wonder if you could have them position themselves between drunk and disorderly patrons. Would save a fortune on doorman costs... |
Perhaps they said intelligent bar of stool. |
