Inflatable Carpet

It appears to be ordinary carpeting when deflated - but sometimes...

Do your kids get a little too rambunctious? Do their falls make you nervous? No problem. Simply inflate the carpet. Borders rise up on the sides, leaving enough clearance to jump off the couch onto a nice bouncy surface. Transform your home into an instant fun house! Let ‘em bounce around. Fun for adults too! (compressor included)

I have been trying to lay carpet in the bathroom and will it lie flatable? no it won't.

carpet in the bathroom seems unhygenic. inflatable carpet could be fun, more of an inflatable area rug really.
rbl, Feb 04 2003

Furniture could be an issue. You'd have to keep the area clear.

Is this like an air bladder that lies underneath a regular carpet?
waugsqueke, Feb 04 2003

Sort of a furry air mattress that doubles as a carpet in the tent during the day?
FarmerJohn, Feb 04 2003

‘Carpet’ – that definition varies widely…

[rbl], yes – area rug. [waugs], it’s not under any furniture, and it’s inflated by bladders within. [FJ], yes, and collapsed exterior structure matches the height of the collapsed interior – it’s flat.

waugs: more like a shag bouncy castle, from the sound of it.
DrCurry, Feb 04 2003

How inflatable is it? I’m thinking, if the kids get too rambunctious, you just super-inflate, pressing them all up against the ceiling. Until they clam down, you know.

       One word. Phssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

//shag bouncy castle// thats a little kinky for you, DrC?

It probably goes without saying: No golf shoes to be worn in homes with Inflatable Carpets.

I vote for airbag cartridges ......

re 8th's suggestion, passive IR detectors could trigger these in the event of a fall. A boon to old folk the world over. Especially useful at the bottom of the stairs.

its a tradition in our family, bliss. every home should have one
po, Feb 06 2003

Why not make it like a waterbed mattress that fills with custard?
reap, Feb 06 2003

Indeed, padded rooms are fun for children, not that I know from experience.... [jurist]: Yes, just like people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
