New tagline from that link: "Oh no, wait? ... naw, ain't no way this work!" |
It did work, the video shows that, just not to the extreme I'm suggesting. Take the funnel in the video and extend it upwards and make the walls progressively steeper. |
I'll change the name to "Funnel Run". The funnel shown gets steeper so you need to run faster then the competition is to see how high up the walls you can get. |
See link with the idea illustrated, albeit more extreme, with a motorcycle in a ball. |
Part of the definition of a funnel is it gets less steep the higher you go. A bowl shape is what you need. |
Could do easy calculations on running speed, steepness, and diameter to work out optimal shape. |
Well, it can stay the same or get steeper, many funnels go to vertical sides to keep what you're pouring into it from splashing out over the sides. But okay, bowl is probably more accurate. I'll change it again. |

Okay, just occurred to me, the way to actually do this would be to have it inflatable like a bounce house. This would: a) make it fun to fall when you got to your maximum height and b) make it something that might actually get made. |

Drew it but AI got a bit confused, but it's sort of kind of the basic idea. (link) This would be an overhead view you wouldn't have the entry way shown, you'd come in and exit through a hole in the very center that would have a padded flap on it. Enter, start running in circles and see how high up the walls you could get. |

Ever tried running on a bouncy castle? |
The bouncy centre sounds reasonable but the walls need to be like a running track for maximum speed. |
Yes, that's what bouncy castles are all about. |
Very easy to reenforce the path as necessary. |
