They travel through clear plastic tubes you run from the windowsill bird feeder (see link) to other feeders in terrariums along the way to lure them throughout the house.
Turn your house into a aviary. One room or a couple. Even just having it run to a plastic bird display on one wall could be cool.
You'd
sprinkle bird seed along the path to the interior areas to train them to hang out in the terrarium above the mantle, on the bookshelves, even hanging from the ceiling.
Squirrels would obviously be kept out by any number of WKTE bird feeder squirrel proofing methods. Flying squirrels might be an issue but I'd actually encourage them.
Extend tubes from this...

To one of more of these mounted on the wall, your desk etc.

Sort of like this but modified for wild birds to come into your house.

OK nice but I have two unrelated questions which are related. |
1. How quickly do the insides of the tubes get fouled up? |
2. Why are there tubes, why not just open the window and let the birds in flying freely? If they won't come in through the open window what makes you think they will come in through a clear tube? |
3. I can't remember what the third questions was |
1- Dunno, but the tubes would be cleanable. Birds do crap a lot. |
2- //Why are there tubes, why not just open the window and let the birds in flying freely?// See 1. |

As for will they come in, good question. I've got a bird feeder outside my office, they seem to understand the concept of being separated from dangerous beasts by glass. When I'm just a couple of feet away from them at my desk, they eat, give me bird eye to make sure they're safe and eat some more. But when I walk out there they all fly away. |
But I hear what you're saying. Wonder if having a one way mirror thing where you could see them and they couldn't see you would be good. |
And birds also wouldn't fly into a house because there's no birdseed there. There would be a trail of birdseed into these tubes. They'd start eating the seed at the entrance, cautiously continue along the trail and as long as they're safe, presumably continue in. |

3- You were going to ask if you could buy the first one. Of course, I'll let you know when they're ready. |
