Why is this site so full of alarm clock ideas? It is one of the mysteries of human psychology that the wakeful self should put so much effort into devising devices to get the sleepful self out of bed, only so that the sleepful self can become more adept at defeating or ignoring them. But I digress. This is only another alarm clock idea, so don't get your hopes up.

The clock is in two parts. A regular- looking alarm clock beside the bed is linked (bluetoothly or otherwise) to a customized toaster in the kitchen. Upon retiring for the night, full of good intentions, you simply place your favourite credit card, CD, photograph or just a small wad of cash in the toaster. When the alarm goes off the next morning, your sleepy-headed alter ego has just 80 seconds to make it to the kitchen and retrieve your valuables before they are toasted.

As a bonus, on Sundays you can use the same device to greet your day with a round of toast.

What happens monday morning after a hard night of... PLAYING CHESS... until 3AM, when the alarm goes off, and you are sleeping so soundly that you do not even hear it?

I should think that a blanket shredder would be more effective, especially if you get wrapped up in the sheets.

//I should think that a blanket shredder would be more effective// Possibly. However, the toaster clock does have the advantage of being moderately more feasible. Actually, I'm not sure if this is considered an advantage at the halfbakery.

// this could be done with a cheap timer and a manual toaster.// Yeah, but where's the fun in that?
