It's an inside out ring. You know it's got beautiful diamonds, emeralds, sapphires on the inside, ground so they're smooth of course, but nobody else knows since the outer portion is just metal. It's platinum or titanium on the outside (like my wedding ring, $100) so only you know you've got a beautifully
stunning and incredibly expensive ring unless you take it off to show to people, which kind of defeats the purpose I guess.
Why? Why wear jewelry in the first place? Might help you seem more interesting if people over analyze it. Are you an enigma? A parodox? No, you just have an inside out ring.

I'm pretty sure we've covered Möbius jewellery here before; if you combined this with that, and made the flattened sapphire travel on little rails, then you could have a teasy, "now you see it - now you don't" ring. |
Be kind if finger hurty though no? |
That's why the strip is encased in a smooth perspex torus. |
[+]Women like wearing pretty underthings even though no one but their SO will see them, so I don't see why this wouldn't be equally appealing. |
Now that I've told you all I will need to come up with a better plan but I had planned to turn all of my gold into drawer handles spray painted flat black. |
If I hadn't have divulged that then admit it... ...none of you would have found my wealth after ransacking my home. |
I have other contingencies. That was just the most obvious. |
[2 fries] While ransacking your home, we would have noticed that the drawer handles felt strangely cold to the touch, as if they were made of not the normal mild steel which such a thing would usually be made from, but a material with a remarkably high thermal conductivity such as copper or, maybe, GOLD! |
I have a friend who's done this, his wedding ring is externally conventional, and then he gets an extra ruby placed in a little hollow for every year of marriage. |

//strangely cold to the touch// |

An excellent use case for Degrees Subjectigrade (linked)! |

Okay, this idea might be a little silly, but that's absolutely brilliant... wait... |
Okay, that is brilliant, but how many rubies can fit in there before it's full? I think you see my concern there. |
Boy did I just a beautiful idea and wreck it or what? |
No- it _is_ brilliant. Just leave 33 little hollows; that will cover you until the 60th anniversary for the different celebratory stones (link). Three circles of 11 equally-spaced hollows would be fine. |
Does the jewelry industry know about this? You do know it's probably the most brilliant idea to sell gemstones since the invention of crowns right? An idea to have men buy a new gemstone every year? |
But you might say "Oh, not every man would want to do that." Let's see how that would play out. |
Wife: "Karen's husband just bought his 10th hidden gemstone for their 10th wedding anniversary. Isn't that romantic?" |
Husband: "So you can't even see it? What's the point of that? |
Wife: "It expresses his love for his wife in a way that shows he doesn't care who knows it." |
Husband: "That sounds pretty stupid." |

Well the ancient ascetics, famously St Thomas More, would in secret and known only to themselves wear a hair shirt as a form of penance. This would be no different. |
