Instead of the straight line Balance Beam, this idea is about having 26 variations, each of which consists of an upper case letter of the alphabet. Each letter will have the same profile width of the traditional balance beam and be supported from below by a set of height adjustable legs, keeping it stable,
level and rigid. (the sloping beam is a separate idea)
Competitors will consequently have to learn 26 routines, as only at competition time will the two different letters on which they all have to perform be revealed.
This idea will therefore see the introduction of curves, in addition to offering the extra typographic features of letters such as A B E G H K Q S W X
No longer will motion in a straight line along the beam be enough, as the rules will require contact to be made with all areas of the upwardly facing surface of the letter form during the exercise.
Super event will consist of gymnasts performing on a series of letters joined together to form words. (are you reading this Cirque du Soleil?)

This is a great idea. This is why when you threatened to leave for the 50th time I urged you to stay. You're a creative person, keep that up but lose the obsessive hate. Or at least turn it down to 11. [+] |

I like it!
Letters that are not "one piece" would make things very interesting (I'm looking at you, uppercase Greek "Xi"...). |
