I hate desktop picture frames. They get stuck closed, the wussy little latches break off, the prop in the back never holds up...
I propose that the back of the picture frame be made out of the same material as the front, wood, ceramics, metal, what have you. No more cardboard and stiff leather.
The
latches should be made out of metal and resemble the latches on a suitcase. The hinges should be equally durable.
Overall, picture frames should be made much more ruggedly, but without losing decorative qualities. A picture frame you can take seriously.
[Note: I know all metal/wood picture frames exist, but even these have poor latching mechanisms in my opinion.]
