Gotcher self a couple of big grubby mutts? Cleaning and refilling the water bowls several times a day becomes a real chore. Sooo why not make a 'flushable' water bowl that could be cleaned and refilled with the push of a lever? Plus the toilet 'motif' would appeal to Fido, ha ha. Plumbing would be required
but hey, it's a small sacrifice for the time saved.

Despite its locale, water in the toilet bowl is often
fresher than water that has been sitting in the dog's
bowl all day. (Because of relatively frequent flushing,
depending on number of occupants of house.) The
freshness of the water is what attracts Fido. |

|
Perhaps the dog's water bowl needs a re-design. A
fountain-type design would aerate the water, and
refreshen it, for example. |

|
A pressure plate on the floor around the bowl would flush it whenever Rover came for a drink. |

My kitty Frisco would love this as well. + |

[+] Most excellent idea! Of course it needs to look like a real toilet or they will snub it! haha |
|
|
Just have the bowl flush automatically every two
hours if nobody else does it. Or when dog
approaches. |
|
|
This being such an excellent idea, I tried
implementing it for my own pet. It turns out that
this is not a good idea for goldfish. |

[+] for this BRILLIANT idea, and one for which I would
happily plumb. And yes, [xandram] .... yes, yes, yes! |
|
|
Train dogs to be attracted to the sound of flushing? Why not. |
|
|
One of those "Went to bun it, oops! Already bunned it
a long
time ago." ideas. |
|
|
An extension to this idea, with the lofty ideal of
teaching your dog about ancient Greek mythology: The
Tantalus dog bowl, a plumbed-in dog bowl like those
above but, in this version, as the dog approaches the
bowl of refreshing, thirst-quenching water, all the
water drains away only to be noisily refilled as the
dog moves away from the bowl. |
