Is this for parked trailers only? At highway speeds, It's not often desirable for your trailer to break free. You'd need spare hitch balls, or you may have to leave the trailer where it fell. However, I may be interested in a reslut. |

Probably it would be safer to just have a wheel fall off of the towed item. That way it wouldn't break free to carom off other vehicles, as would be the case with the fusible hitch. The sparks and grinding noise would alert the driver to a problem. |

Why not just make the hitch connection out of fiberglass/kevlar/carbon-fiber (or some other nonconductive strong material) and have a fuseable link on a seperate groundwire? |

I have some 'O' rings that are formed from a cylinder with hitch ball at one end. |
