Imagine, every one set for the snap two inches from the sideline. Oh and let the whole team play at one time. I think it might be more like a battle scene from Braveheart.
Unofficial site for Games Workshop's Bloodbowl game.

Except for a couple of reserves the whole team does play. |

Try Rugby. You can take the downs as quick as you want then, too. |

I'm a USAn & haven't watched Yankee Woosball in years |

[Football? "set for the snap"? Oh right, its that american game with the over-padded guys in brightly coloured lycra tights] |
Certainly, every memeber of the team should play at once, maybe some of the spectators too. Anything to aleviate what is a VERY boring game(C'mon you Yanks, you know its true) |

I think this idea should be titled "American Football Sucks" |

Okay, in [Inconvenience Foods] a pure rant was posted and halfbakers all tried to make an *idea* out of it. Here, the posting actually contains a novel idea (not the most imaginative, perhaps, but at least identifiable as an idea). And most of the responses are *rants.* |

Anyone care to take a stab at the psychology behind this? Perhaps we could take this up at the next HA meeting. |
Oh, don't misunderstand me. I'm not criticizing. It's just an interesting observation that might reveal some interesting psychology, though I don't know what that might be. And not just your psychology, either, UB, it's clearly a group thing. |

So many people getting upset at the sport where on any given day the linebacker" yank" without his lycra and kevlar standing naked in the snow would woosball all over any rugby or soccer fancy lad. So please get your games straight. "Football" is "Football". |
Of couse, "Football" is "Football". Thats why the rest of the worlds get upset about an upstart version of rugby designed to fit in with advertising breaks, which is probaby the reason for the problems you wanted to change in "Armored Rugby" (see link). |

baddmonkey, baddmonkey, baddmonkey. Talk to any otherwise perfectly polite Female in a country where Rugby is played... Ask her "... American [W](F)oo[s](t)ball...?" and you will hear and/or see blue words you didn't know existed in their comparison of American Football Players with Little Boy Blue, et al. And she'll be absolutely right. We've already covered the various forms of the game(s) and I don't believe anyhalfone else - even here in the US - would agree that Woosball teams would stand a chance against Rugby Teams in an all out brawl. The origins of Football can be traced back to Tsu Chu- a 2000 year old Chinese game, the American Game was based on rugby, though it was reckless. See the link for info. As for the original idea, I can see why you wish they'd do that if they were going to play what seems to be the only Professional Armored Sport. At least it might make it a little interesting. Key word: might. |

FOOTball: how often is the ball kicked? |
mcscotland: about every fourth down if you watch Cleveland. |

OK, now I've seen it all. "My national sport can beat up your national sport!" |
In conclusion: USA! USA! USA! |

Much, much, much more interesting than baseball. More variety of plays than in Euro football (soccer), not that I don't watch that as well. And if I had grown up in Europe or Australia, maybe I'd understand rugby more and American football less. Everyone criticizes what they don't understand. For some, it's American football; For some, (on this side of the pond) it's rugby. |
Also, Canadian football is similar to American football, no? I haven't paid it much attention. |
Some have tried to "liven" up American football, it was called the XFL. Total flop. I say leave it alone, I enjoy it as it is and so do millions of others in the States. Other people in the world dont have to like it just like I dont have to like watching 20 "European football" players run on a field for 90 minutes only to score 1 goal. |
