[marked-for-deletion] Not a invention, arson. |
Isn't arson setting fires and then watching them burn? This is for fun, and ends with you putting out your fire. |
No, arson is illegally setting stuff on fire. You don't have to watch. Setting someone else's stuff on fire would be arson. Setting your own stuff on fire in a place where fires are not allowed would be arson. Setting your own stuff on fire to harm another person, or to commit fraud would be arson. Basically if a crime involves fire, it is arson. |

Put them next to pencils. |
Have hours of fun drawing and then erasing pictures of fire extinguishers. |
Silly kitty, you forgot the 'public buildings' part |
I'm not allowed out in public buildings. |
Just wondering, is it also a crime to extinguish a desired fire? I would think that in cave man times, this was the bigger offense. |
apparently years ago if your fire went out, you'd go next door and borrow some - a bit like a cup of sugar these days. |
[phundug] I think that would fall under "Incitement to Riot" |
Dress yourself up as a building, then set
fire to yourself first, to convince me that
I should find this amusing. |
Fire starters are Widely Available in supermarkets over here, often alongside handy bundles of firewood. But until public buildings routinely install fireplaces, not seeing the advantages of this idea. |
Dr. , 'hours of fun' of course |
I think I was eleven or twelve at the time, having a sleep over at a friends when me and my buddy decided it would be great fun to dare each other to drop a lit match into the dry brush and see which one of us would let it go the longest before stamping it out. I can't remember who won, but after the first couple of acres of farmland got torched and the all the neighbors came running it sort of lost its appeal. |
I picture a similar or worse fate for these "hours of fun" of yours. |
//Basically if a crime involves fire, it is arson// |
Awesome, someone tell that to the next LA lawyer who goes to jail for smoking crack. I'm sure the penalty for arson is less than that for using narcotics. |
If you put a building out, has it only been half arsoned? |
A house once collapsed into a disused mineshaft. The subsequent breaking of gas pipes caused a fire. The investigator on the scene said that the fire had been started deliberately. Apparently he couldn't tell his arson from a hole in the ground. |
I'm letting this idea stay in spite of the MFD because I think it's different from just "arson"; it would work (for me, at least) as a prank or a piece of conceptual art. |
Your the only one that got the joke |
//apparently years ago if your fire went out, you'd go next door and borrow some - a bit like a cup of sugar these days.// That's lovely, [po]. Sadly, even the sugar thing seems a bit quaint now; you're more likely to "borrow" some internet from your neighbour's wifi if your internet goes out. (Not you specifically, [po]). |
