In a Fibre Optic Racquet, the mesh which strikes the ball is illuminated, because it is composed of a type of material that transmits light. A power supply stored in the handle generates the light, which is then transmitted and released along the length of fibres.

Modern LEDs are very powerful, and should enable this phenomena to be powered up for the duration of a game, with any battery changes being quickly achieved during one the many intervals.

Combined with an illuminated ball, this would transform any game deploying the technology into a twilight variation.
