My 3.5 year old has a love affair with glitter cosmetics, especially body and hair glitter. The stuff seems to stick via static charge or Van der Waal's forces, but in order to clean her up you pretty much need to do a full body wash down.
I propose a line of easy to cleanup glitter products that
contain a small amount of ferromagnetic material such that they will be attracted and stick to a magnet. This would allow one to use a magnetized comb to collect and remove the glitter and potentially to recover some portion of the glitter.

But what if there were only one Van der Waal? Given that this is a childs product, there might not be that many. |

[jh] - set a thief to catch a thief. You could try removal by (1): an inflated balloon, charged by vigorous rubbing atop the heads of the participants |
(2) one of those charge removal guns once used for vinyl records. |

I suspect these things stick because skin is sticky and kid skin is stickier. |
Oh I do agree! Im justing thinking of something that they might want to stick to more than sticky kid. |

Do you have a problem with festive carpeting? |

Simply Brilliant Idea...a biscuit for you! |

Not hating the idea, but keep the kids (and glitter) well away from any electronics. Small magentic particles that can get inside devices are a recipie for disaster. |

//Small magentic particles// would screw
up a colour monitor, that's for sure. |

No girls of my own, but stacks of neices. One has grown to take pre-med - good luck with yours! |

And a bun while for while you wait. |

Metal shavings for glitter? Ouch. You've clearly never worked in a metal shop. Does it ship with a set of safety goggles? |
Who said anything about metal shavings??????? |
For the record, I have a lathe and a drill press with a milling table, and have spent time in a metal fabrication shop. I am very familiar with metal shavings. |
There are numerous plastics and other materials that are ferro magnetic or use metallic coatings. |
//There are numerous plastics and other
materials that are ferro magnetic// As far
as I know, all useable ferromagnetic
substances are metallic; ferromagnetic
"plastics" actually have metal particles
embedded in them. |
Embedded metal does not a metal shaving make. |
ABsolutely. I was just pointing out that
there aren't numerous plastics that are
ferromagnetic. |

One of the best ideas I've seen here yet! I HATE cleaning up glitter! |
