Feather & Anvil Spa

Gravity is such a downer

Come experience the feather light environment at our F&A Spa, where we've put a dent in that pesky gravitational constant. Our Anvil™ ceiling is built from ludicrously heavy and dense material, altering the local gravity field so as to take some of those partial g's off your weary shoulders.

       Welcome back, [placid]!

Basalt has a typical density of 3; lead's density is 11.

Drilling a deep shaft in basalt not only places the client below a large mass of rock, but takes them closer to the core of your planet, meaning that your "spa" will be naturally warm.

So, you could build a ziggurat out of lead, but it would need a support structure, because lead is so ductile and the compressive forces at the lowest level will be very large, causing "creep" or cold flow.

The deep mineshaft is probably going to be more cost-effective.

If you go deep enough, gravity will be zero. (You can't go deeper than the centre of the Earth, though, because then gravity would be negative and you'd float back up.)

You're babbling again, [IT], stop it. Have you had a particularly lavish liquid lunch today ? Or have you been indulging in some doubtful mushrooms again ?

This is the beginning of a breakthrough that will lead to faster than light travel.

       Unfortunately, it's only the beginning.

Not to be obvious, but why not just stand on your head?

       Better yet on someone else's.

Maybe, the 'Feather & Anvil' needs to be mobile, speedily chasing the moon.
