Evolution Snapshot

Spectrum of Evolution as it Exists TODAY!

We’re living in wonderful times thanks to our understanding of evolution. Since the first discovery of the “Neanderthal Man” we’ve enjoyed movie classics such as “Encino Man” featuring Polly Shore, as well as many album covers. In addition, since the 1830s, Paleoanthropologists have improved our quality of life by answering the question, “from which apes did man evolve?” In efforts to assist our much needed Paleoanthropologist friends in their relentless quest to unearth human(like) fossils I propose taking a snapshot of living evidence as it stands today!

The evolutionary snapshot would consist of an undertaking centered around living evidence as opposed to expired evidence. The Paleoanthropologists would study the anatomical features of people all over the world and categorize them in a spectrum from evolved to un-evolved based on how close they resemble our perception of ape ancestry.

The project would ultimately reveal to human non- Paleoanthropologists how to view themselves so that expert Paleoanthropologists would not have to spend their time and efforts arguing about their assessments.

I suspect that a rich vein of irony or something has just washed over me. No, hang on, it would have to be a wave rather than a vein if it was going to wash over. But anyway.

Evolutionary biologists already do this, extensively. The analyses are more often based on DNA rather than anatomy, since sequence data tends to be rather clearer. There are plenty of analyses of extant human populations, from which trees are constructed and ancestral genomes deduced.

Ah, a newbie deletionista? [jamm3r], you have the power but with great power comes great...ah, never mind. We'll just quit posting on your ideas.

Umm, you understand that, per Darwin, "evolved" is not a value judgement? There is no "neener neener; I'm more evolved than you". There's only "we're both still alive so far". Granted, idiots have been *using* "evolved" as a value judgement at least since the beatniks, but that has nothing to do with paleoanthropologists.
