Ideas like this are created to destabilise the integrity of major research programmes, and should be exposed to critical scrutiny.

This is a rational approach to debunking conspiracy theories.

Unfortunately, conspiracy theories are not amenable to rational approaches.

There are two laws regarding conspiracy theories:

Buchanan's First Law of Conspiracy Theories: The more bizarre the theory, the stronger its adherents' belief in it.

Buchanan's Second Law of Conspiracy Theories: Evidence against a conspiracy theory is simply evidence that The Authorities are devoting more resources to hiding the conspiracy. It is therefore evidence for the conspiracy theory.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jul 13 2016

Buchanan's Third Law of Conspiracy Theories: Your do NOT talk about Buchanan's Second Law of Conspiracy Theories.

Buchanan's Fourth Law of Conspiracy Theories: We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you.

There is no Fourth Law. Absolutely not. Never has been, no idea how that idea got started.
