Ideas like this are created to destabilise the integrity of
major research programmes, and should be exposed to
critical scrutiny. |
This is a rational approach to debunking conspiracy
theories. |
Unfortunately, conspiracy theories are not amenable to
rational approaches. |
There are two laws regarding conspiracy theories: |
Buchanan's First Law of Conspiracy Theories: The more
bizarre the theory, the stronger its adherents' belief in it. |
Buchanan's Second Law of Conspiracy Theories: Evidence
against a conspiracy theory is simply evidence that The
Authorities are devoting more resources to hiding the
conspiracy. It is therefore evidence for the conspiracy
theory. |
Buchanan's Third Law of Conspiracy Theories: Your do NOT talk about Buchanan's Second Law of Conspiracy Theories. |
Buchanan's Fourth Law of Conspiracy Theories: We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you. |
There is no Fourth Law. Absolutely not. Never has
been, no idea how that idea got started. |
