This is an invention of my 5 year old son which I have embellished slightly.

The cat stand is a device to aid owners of old, lazy or injured cats. The device is a small stand with small adjustable pads which allow you to support your cat in a comfortable position for feeding, entertainment or other activity to which your cat may not partake due to lack of ability, interest or energy.

Cat is placed on the cat stand and the pads are adjusted to the desired position at which point your cat will be happy, comfortable and healthy.

Description (displayed with the short name and URL.)

Initial development and evaluation was undertaken using letter blocks and a plush beenie baby cat. Early results indicated a very happy cat that certianly looked comfortable. We attempted a baseline real cat analysis but the block structure proved inadequate for the intended task. Further trials are in the early planning stage.

So, um, what happened? Your kid broke your cat?
DrCurry, Sep 25 2006

The structural stability of the 1.5 inch square letter blocks proved unstable under the 19lb load of our cat snowflake and as such the stand collapsed and the cat flipped out(though on reflection those two events could have been reversed)

Explain it to my cat. We feed science diet light food with controlled portions(per the vet) we excercise her as much as we can(but when the cat just sits there when you hit her in the face with a ribbon this does not work) and she just sits around. she is almost 15 years old, does not like to go outside and likes to lay on her back in the middle of the floor. The Vet says some cats are just that way and at this point we are not going to change her. Our other 3 cats and dog are all well within the ideal weight range and are quite active.

I hope that bone is not a statement on my cats health as you percieve it! Our Vet is quite able to render a professional evaluation of her health and he seems comfortable with what he sees.

I do not appreciate being shamed for doing everything my vet has asked to maintain the health of my pets.

Read the idea....this was a cute idea a 5 year old had while playing with a stuffed animal, the annotation was intended in a humerous light!

Pun! Feeding on the halfbaker meme!

Actually desert Fox, Not intended as Pun at all. My 5 year gave me a very detail discussion and tour of his invention. Ill change the name if you like.

don't change the name - it's fine. Idea is a bit flimsy and lacking in substance, but giving a + to it because of its kindly sentiments and origins.

My cat Sailor was huge, and there was nothing that could be done to alleviate his eventual demise. I loved him so much that I asked the vet to put me down as well when he was ill and full of suffering

There is a 28 lb cat that comes into the clinic.... 19lbs is nothing!

Your cat stand needs a treadmill built into it I think. The cat's body can be supported by the stand while it's little legs are being worked by the treadmill. I bet this could even be built out of lego, some K-NEX and a modified conveyer belt. (+)

In my basement I've been secretly working on, for lack of a better name, the Grandparent Stand.

The Grandparent Stand is a device to aid owners of old, lazy or injured grandparents. The device is a small stand with small adjustable pads which allow you to support your grandparent in a comfortable position for feeding, entertainment or other activity to which your grandparent may not partake due to lack of ability, interest or energy.

Grandparent is placed on the grandparent stand and the pads are adjusted to the desired position at which point your grandparent will be happy, comfortable and healthy.

Really! I'm not kidding. This is merely a coincidence that these ideas sound sort of the same. Honestly, would I lie? Oh come on, now. My nose is NOT getting longer. It's not!
